Sunset Hill’s Illiana Train Society is a not for profit group of G-Scale model enthusiasts from the states of Illinois and Indiana.
Society members are interested in all of aspects of large-scale model railroading.
Among the groups goals are the education of the public about Garden Railroading. That Includes modeling, construction and running of garden trains, railroadiana and American railroad history.
#1 Upper Reflection Pond and Waterfall
Planned visual elements for Sunset Hill’s Illiana Train Society
“Bull Moose Line"
Upper Reflection Pond and
4,000 gallons of water per minute will flow through a filtration pump pushing water from the Lower Mill Pond, via a hidden piping system, to the Waterfall
above the Upper Reflection Pond. From this small pond, encircled by a single
rail track, the water will splash down a series of gurgling rock falls, within a
trough of field stone, that leads down to the Lower Mill Pond.
The pond system forms the heart of the layouts design, giving the venue its visual height and depth. Indiana field stone will be used in the water features and throughout the "Bull Moose Line" railroad garden
The Garden Railway layout at Samuelson's Greenhouse in Valparaiso is gone.
No G-scale trains will run there again.
The "Bull Moose Line" outdoor G-scale venue
is being relocated to Sunset Hill Farm County Park located at 775 Meridian Road,
just north of Valparaiso. To more closely identify with this move to Sunset Hill Farm County Park the membership of the Society recently voted to change their name to Sunset Hill’s Illiana Train Society.
* Unlike typical railroad G-scale modelers who construct their layout from the ground up the Sunset Hill's Illiana Society's Building Committee:
Lance Molenda, Owen Todd, George Sarver, Dave Ransom, Dave Casey and Gary Barneko are asking for $52,000.00 in donations to have an outside contractor build a train garden at Sunset Hill Farm County Park. * Send donations to:Sunset Hill's Illiana Train SocietyP.O.
