Planned visual elements for Sunset Hill’s Illiana Train Society
“Bull Moose Line" #1Upper Reflection Pond and
4,000 gallons of water per minute will flow through a filtration pump pushing water from the Lower Mill Pond, via a hidden piping system, to the Waterfall
above the Upper Reflection Pond. From this small pond, encircled by a single
rail track, the water will splash down a series of gurgling rock falls, within a
trough of field stone, that leads down to the Lower Mill Pond.
The pond system forms the heart of the layouts design, giving the venue its visual height and depth. Indiana field stone will be used in the water features and throughout the "Bull Moose Line" railroad garden
Planned visual elements for Sunset Hill’s Illiana Train Society “Bull Moose Line” #3 Figure Eight Over And Under Track
At the heart of the garden
railways design, the water feature gives
the venue a stone hill for a figure eight track allowing trains to cross over the water via a compression bridge, circle the upper reflection pond and then dive under the downhill stream through a tunnel to continue on around the lower mill
pond. This visual effect provides the “Bull Moose Line” with a unique right-of-way to travel over and under the cascading waters.
